If it only cost $250 for me to connect on UFB I'd do it in a heartbeat. Even if it were 5x that I'd still pay.

Sadly it'd be a lot more than that, as it's not available here yet. (it is available 300 metres down the road though! )

When are you moving 'later in the year'? If it going to be a couple of months from now, don't bother with Fibre. It will take that long (at least) to get it anyway.

Dont get me wrong - happy to continue my contract at our new place.

Some ISPs will continue the contract at the new place (downgrade to DSL if fibre isn't available). At least that's what the Spark rep said when I asked.

Correct - if you move address mid-contract and Spark cannot provide fibre service at your new (NZ!) address, your fibre contract is cancelled without penalty and you are welcome to take up xDSL (if available).

That xDSL will be on a new 12 month contract, however if fibre becomes available before the end of the DSL contract, you can upgrade without penalty when you sign up to a new fibre connection for 12 months.

As a general rule, Spark only charges the ETF if you voluntarily choose to disconnect or change providers within any contract period. Having to Disconnect because we cannot provide service at your new address is not 'voluntary' so no ETF applies in that instance.

I think that's fair - and not just because I work for them :)

TBH if you are moving later in the year it's easier to just stick with xDSL.

With the speed of UFB installation it might not even be done by the time you move.

Man, I wish I had the OP's issues ... I'm in the middle of Auckland and still have to wait until 2019 to even get fibre.

Managing ... just ... on a 10MBps (8 on the speed tests) DSL connection :(

I'd jump at the chance of a 1 year contact for fibre
