Might be meaning recalling it being said about Nova's network... I remember seeing it on these forums before too

Not afak, someone noticed some time ago that they had appeared on speedtest, but obviously nothing could be said before launch. Obviously anything official needs to be commented on by Nova themselves, I'll encourage them to get someone "official" on GZ. Happy to talk about technology though.

There was a press release, that'd be where I saw it mentioned they built their own network

Hi all

Maybe a failure of your google foo?

Possibly - I searched the forum for Nova broadband and this didn't pop up in the first 10 pages of responses...
I'm just going to put this out here - my 2c:
I compared the prices of Nova and they seemed rather expensive - not to mention they don't offer anything above 200/20Mbit for UFB (at the same price as Gigabit for other providers). I can't judge on their network but there is very little information on it - there is no mention of IP addressing (is this CGNAT, Dynamic or do you get a Static IP) and there is many references to fair use policies essentially stating if you use more than the average customer Nova may ask you to cut your usage down, or disconnect you.
I'd personally still unbundle and go with 2degrees - $200 joining credit, $85/mo (or $75/mo if you have an on-account mobile with them) and 12mo contract with a free Fritz!Box (which is superior to what Nova are offering). This works out to $40 more expensive than Nova over a single year taking in consideration their credit but in return you get a better router and are on a proven, well performing network and long term you'll actually save more.
Until Nova (or @noroad) answer questions about the network and how it performs I really can't recommend it especially on a fixed, bundled contract with power. I also recommend comparing power / gas suppliers as what you're paying is likely too much for that too - a quick comparison from Flick Electric / Fixie plan to Nova would mean I would spend on average $10/mo more just for power on a low user plan. If you've got gas bundled and are a higher use household you could have considerable savings waiting for you. Furthermore, I don't support any provider that has a prompt payment discount and treats it as such.
By locking your broadband / power / gas together into one bill makes it harder to move any of these aspects to a new provider or take advantage of the actual cheapest price for each utility. You've got far more power by staying contract free with power / gas in terms of savings as providers will often ensure you've got the best deal (instead of fixing you for 1-2 years).

Nova is AS136795, Peering and transit are via AS135069. Peering is via Auckland-IX, Mega-IX Auckland, the various Sydney exchanges, LA exchanges, San Jose exchanges, Spark National. Transit via Cogent and Telia.

I won't make any comments around business aspects, I make packets pass and that is what makes me happy.
