michaelmurfy: It appears their account is "Active" since most blocked accounts lead to no profile page once they are actually blocked.

They are banned. Trust me.

freitasm: HD stepped over the FUG when they got quite agitated while replying to some posts here. We decided to ban the account.

We keep editorial/moderation independent from commercial activities. So regardless of they paying for advertising, the ban stands and they are aware of it.

That's enough to put me off using their service.  Thanks for the heads up.

That's why I put in the first post that being banned from Geekzone is no way reflects their ability to deliver the service.

In the process of being provisioned now. Actually there's a chance the cut-over will take place fractionally before the hardware arrives. Can anyone tell me if, once a line has been provisioned for VDSL2, you can still connect with an ADSL2 modem?

so heres my experience so far....

ordered a line last week as a backup for the home and office....
it was connected a week later on the 25th and has been running fine since.

I have been doing regular speedtests and they are all fine too. My speeds arent the best but I am at the outer limit of the VDSL coverage, and I am in a rural town called Inlgewood in Taranaki.

I brought a Draytek Vigor2750 modem from www.ascent.co.nz - set it up with the username and password and extra info that came with the modem for chorus vdsl connections - using vlan tagging, etc no big deal.

speedtest:

 (Inglewood to Wellington)

 (Inglewood to Auckland)

 (Inglewood to New Plymouth)

So far so good, up and running easy and connection is working well.

Is there a current map of VDSL coverage out there? Search has failed me and the page that was on the Telecom Wholesale site is 404'd.

Anyone know who has signed up, how long that special price applies for, and what will be the price once the promotion has ended? I can't see any details on the website.

Then they put the prices up? So you pay $80 for the 1st month, and then the price goes up?
