aa. As I understand it, some ISPs are giving local traffic free aren't they? This means that aspects of those plans are not capped at all. This is nuts as it has serious impact on managing capacity (unless you simply allow for 100% load).

bb. You guys are quoting speeds of that orcon speed test? What's the load on orcon and ape at peak times? Don't get me wrong, I'm as interested as you in performance issues, but squeeking about stuff and having our facts wrong or up for question means our bleats fall on deaf ears.

OK this is completely f-ed!!! I used to get 19xxk on my old 2MB connection with Clear and Actrix, but now, what a f-ing great upgrade!!! I'm only getting 15% of the speed of what I used to get with a $40 plan!!!

:cry: I so miss my good old 2M connections... :*( I knew I never should've upgraded...

All very good, but...

How many hops between your PC and these speed tests? As I understand any ISP promise only the nominal speed. Your connection can be impacted by current network traffic, the destination site's load, and lots of other factors.

Don't get me wrong, but... People will never get 3.5Mbps, as I will never get 10Mbps on my TCL connection. I can't even get 100Mbps in my local network with two computers side-by-side folks, let alone from here to a server buried in a mountain in Colorado.
