Will my connections performance be better/worse/or exactly the same?

I'm considering these 3 options:
BigPipe: $89x6months-$89 (first month free) = 445
Unlimited: $75x6months+49 (connection fee) = 499
Stick with HD (capped): $88.25x6months = 529.5
Unfortunately there is no network or systems relationship between HD and Unlimited Internet; as its run through NGW which has an independent network. The back end systems are also completely independent from each other. If you are really interested though, get in touch with us so we can have a chat and see if we can sweeten up the deal for you a bit.

just thought I report back after being with unlimited for a couple of weeks.

havent noticed a change in speed at all between snap and unlimited (im about a 1TB a month user, multiple HD netflix streams at once).

so happy with the switch. being small theyre quick with support tickets (withing 10mins of opening one on a friday night after 6pm I had a response). they changed my billing period to after my activation date when asked (original was set to when I signed up, not when I was connected).

so for no contract, i say its worth a go, $10 cheaper than bigpipe a month.

Good to hear some updates but still sitting on the fence. Would be $6 a month cheaper than my ADSL naked plan that I'm on. Would save a $1.50 a month if I move my VOIP line but would loose a lot of features that 2talk provides.

Not sure about the geo unblocking as I'm paying $3 something a month so would need to be about that. I'm also not keen on being billed straight away, I do like the cheap static IP option though :-)

Will wait and see :-)

There is no mention of routers or ATA's for VOIP. I take it none are supplied and it is bring your own device setup. In which case there will be setup instructions supplied?

ok, been with them for about a month now, I am noticing slower speeds than snap.

so will probably ditch them and go to bigpipe.

Was contact by Ben after my last post (professional/helpful/transparent email). He told me they were doing some network upgrades and to see if that helped my speeds.

Have had a lot better speeds since then, and now on par with my previous speeds from snap. So no speed issues now.

So won't be switching to bigpipe.

Don't know if this is the correct place to ask, but aren't UFB installations free for the first 200 metres, in which case I'm wondering what Unlimited Internets new line install service for $199 would actually cover ? Thanks

Hi there,

"If a premise requires a new line install to get broadband, this can be performed for $199."

so, I assume if you have a UFB setup, you won't have to pay the $199.

Hi there,

so, I assume if you have a UFB setup, you won't have to pay the $199.

Depends if you have an existing intact copper line.

Yes, I asked Unlimited Internet support as well, and they said, much as you did, Chorus will do UFB at no charge and the $199 is for a copper line installation, which we have anyway.

I'm guessing it's still too early to tell how much unlimited are going to be shaping P2P?

And a question to Unlimited, since you only offer clothed DSL with phone service with another provider and naked DSL, and the the only phone service you offer is VoIP, have you considered how the Chorus UBS charging changes are going to affect you? It seems unlikely you're going to be able to maintain a price of $49 for unlimited clothed VDSL (well I presume these changes effect VSDL as well) or $39 for unlimited clothed ADSL when the changes come in less than a month, but I can't see any mention of the likely future price increase anywhere. I presume you're aware of what I'm talking about which was been discussed here http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=49&topicid=154081 and elsewhere and more importantly, the details must have been something available to you before it was discussed here.

Since so far there's no sign of any of the homeline providers offering to pass on any credit (AFAIK) which from what I've read they'll get, it seems your current clothed plans could become uncompetitive (if they go up by $20, plus a $45 min homeline your unlimited VDSL service will effectively be $114 which is cheaper than some who aim for a fairly high level of service, but not by much, and that's assuming $45). You either need to start offering PSTN homelines yourself with the clothed services or just give up on them and stick with the naked one IMO. Of course homeline providers could just be slow, so it's probably worth waiting to see how things play out, but you should at least warn putative customers of the upcoming price change.

I see the HD web site no longer advertises prices, I assume they are redoing there site due to the coming product changes from Chrous on the 1st December.

Unlimited Internet is also not accepting new customers as per the notice on their home page.

Will have to check back later I guess.
