Does Watercare charge you for the water that falls from the sky in your area?

...because that's what this discussion is about really isn't it.

We're talking about the local city council just making the internet fall from the sky, giving rate payers the choice to either catch it where it lands or pay a premium to get it on a cord of copper or glass.

Can you, and the two other people who supported your comment, explain why this is for the best?

If people aren't affording copper now, why is it best that a community offering isn't provided?

Because the solution that was being offered was hardly acceptable.

In a way watercare do charge for water that comes from the sky. Some people have been forced to install water meters on their tank outlets. Reason so that watercare can bill them for the water that they put down the sewers. At $2.33 per cubic metre. Or pay a $600 per year fixed fee.

That is a valid and intriguing point. I wonder how the council, nay, anyone might measure waste internet? If one could then recycle said waste internet it could be made available at a cheaper rate, if not free. There you go Wairoa Council, there is your business opportunity.
