Hey Guys,

I emailed chorus last month and asked them what the theoretical maximum speed of the "chorus ONT" is? - didn't get a reply.

I would assume it would have been 10/1000 or Gigabit.

but i just had a look at this website and on page 64 it looks like it could be 10Gigabit.

http://www.crownfibre.govt.nz/media/18404/chorus%20ufb%20services%20agreement%20bitstream%20operations%20manual%20(3).pdf

I know 1G and 10G speed plans are some time away but they really should tell us the spec of there equipment.

also i was given a cisco srp521w from ISP and im going to a draytek vigor 2130n soon, is this still the best box on the market to get?
I like how its theoretical maximum throughput is 800M.

Any answers will be appreciated - "ChorusVan" might know the answer to my question.,

Cheers,

I'm a little confused by your question and what you're actually wanting to know.

The maximum throughput is defined by the capabilities of GPON which is 2.4Gbps down and 1.2Gbps up. The maximum the ONT can deliver to a customer is 1Gpbs as it only has a GE port on it.

As for plans the maximum available at present is 100/50. If you want speeds above that you'll need to move to a P2P connection.

Chorus have released a draft document detailing how they will contend the GPON network to introduce speeds over 100Mbps by early to mid 2014.
