Our local exchange has just been upgraded from ADSL1 to ADSL2 / VDSL
We are about 2.6 to 2.65 km of copper wire away
DSL line speeds are currently 5371 / 861 Kbps

I like the idea of VDSL with possibly higher upload speeds but looking for some feedback please?

Planning on moving from Orcon to 2Talk now we can with upgraded exchange (we have a few VOIP connections that are pretty busy during the day and had to go to RBI about a year ago as ADSL1 got too congested but with ADSL2 now don't have any issues any more)

Keeping RBI as a backup connection still.

Is it worth going to VDSL?
Any ideas of speeds we might get?
I cannot find anything that gives VDSL speed vs distance anywhere?

Telecom site says it can offer VDSL or ADSL2
2Talk site not working for checking. (If i put in wrong address it says it does not exist. If i put in correct address it just does nothing :))

John

The chances of getting VDSL at 2.6km are essentially zero - the cut off is about 1km, depending on attenuation.

What are your current ADSL line stats?
