Hi everyone I'm new on here and after searching everywhere online, this seems to be the best place to ask for info regarding my issue in NZ.

I live in albany, oteha valley and recently moved house to just down the road from my original address. When I asked slingshot to connect my new house to the internet they said all the ports are filled up and that I will have to wait over 110 days on a list of 11 people waiting to get connected to the internet. All other internet providers said the same thing and a couple like vodafone suggested we use 3g wireless or satellite (yeah right!).

Now living in such a developed area of New Zealand, this seems unbelievable to me that nothing has been done to fix the situation especially with so many people waiting. It's going to be nearly 2 years before my area gets UFB upgrade too so waiting that long is out of the question. What can I do? Can I ring up and pester chorus to sort it out ASAP? I assume no one else has made a fuss until now and just accepted their fate...

Thanks in advance for your advice.

randomusername: What is the meaning of adding cards? So more people can access the internet in a neighborhood?

Sounds strange, PM me your address and phone details and I'll see if I can find anything out.

Mrs randomusername here- we have internet and landline! After over a month of no phone or net, I can't describe how awesome it is to be able to hop on my laptop and write this. Thank you so much to @TimA and everyone else who has worked on this case for us, we are seriously grateful.  If Mr randomusername hadn't come across this forum and asked for help and you all hadn't been here to suss it all out for us, we probably would have still been without any phone or net months from now- so adamant was every ISP we spoke to that we couldn't get ADSL NOR VDSL.

Again, thank you all so much.

Honestly I am humbled by the time and effort a lot of you have put into this. TimA, pjamieson, BMarquis among others I appreciate what you have done and have managed to get us working internet and a landline where every other avenue was a dead end. Thank you all so, so much. Really goes to show that there are good altruistic people out there still. I know it may be just another day in your jobs, but you made a difference to some people who really needed it. I hope this can raise awareness of the customer service side of things and the need for good control over internet services and availability. I wonder how many others were in our position but just accepted their fate. Thank you all again, so much.
