I'm trying to decide between ADSL or Skinny broadband.

The chorus map indicates the address has ADSL only with >10mbps speeds. Im curious to know if its really 10mbps, closer to 15mbps or nearer 20mbps. I know every situation is different but a more real world average would help me decide.

Do any of the speed tests out there keep anonymous records of previous speed tests for a street/suburb?

BTW I have line of sight with the Spark tower in our area but it is around 3km away.

ADSL speed is subject to the vagaries of interference in your local cable.  That means the longer the cable, or the greater the distance between your modem and the DSLAM (Chorus' modem) then the greater the probability of interference and hence the slower speed.

The actual speed will depend on a lot of factors - see our article here: https://truenet.nz/about-broadband

That article also gives you an idea about the range of measured speeds achieved over various ADSL connections from over 700 tests per connection

If your preferred ISP goes into the Chorus coverage maps and plugs in the address and there is DSL service there already. Down the bottom there is Chorus reports which shows the current speed at the property.
