Anyone know if its possible to get into the management interface on the Enable (Christchurch UFB Fibre) supplied Huawei Echolife ONT??

The only reason I'm keen to is to see if I can configure the ATA Ports. From reading info I found on Enable's site it sounds like normally these are configured on a separate layer to the Fibre internet connection that is connected to equipment in the Retailers Point of presence on Enables network.

I'm running a Naked Fibre service through a business Fibre wholesaler at my house as I got a very good deal and I've been fairly impressed with their international backbone not being overloaded at peak times. I've ported my home phone to 2Talk on the Free prepay service which is great - I pay nothing monthly to continue having a home number and only pay small per minute rates for calls. We make very few calls on the home line so its perfect for us and likely to cost $20 per year. I'm currently using a Fritzbox Router to do the VOIP ATA but I'm no longer using the Fritzbox as my Internet router as it wasn't fast enough, my connection (100/100) was topping out at 94 with the Fritzbox, I've switched to a Mikrotik routerboard and I'm getting 110/110 so the friztbox is now sitting behind the Mikrotik purely as an ATA converter which is excesive. If I can use the ATA ports on the ONT it would A) Free up the fritzbox without having to source a Linksys ATA or similar and B) it would mean my phones would carry on working even while I'm configuring and resetting my router.

I already suspect I'm dreaming though as obviously if my Router is providing my WAN connection how can the ONT connect to 2Talk from the wrong side of my router - Possibly as 2Talk are a UFB reseller they may have equipment at Enable that with the right config will make this possible??

Even if not I'm intrigued to have a look at the management interface and see what if anything can be configured.

Alternately if anyone has actually read this far whats your choice for a low cost & reliable (oxymoron?) ATA adapter?

Nope. It's part of Enable's network and isn't end-user configurable.

The Enable ATA is just like the Chorus ATA and is delivered on a separate VLAN from the broadband connection. So your RSP/ISP would need to select the service and deliver it to where the RSP would specify the SIP username, password and outbound proxy.
So there is zero chance you could configure it.
