Hey

Wondering if it's possible to use something like the Ubiquiti EdgeRouter Pro 8 which has a SFP port as the ONT instead of the supplied ONT?

Are there any benefits to this or is it better just to get the ERL and connect that to the supplied ONT?

I get fibre at the end of the year but looking to get network sorted before then...

Thanks

No, been asked before. The ONT is managed by the fiber provider and is part of their network. The ethernet port on it is where the service is delivered to and you have to connect there.
