Hi guys,

I am apologetic this is a first post but would really appreciate some understanding, I have checked the forums before posting this however no one has really put in the format I am about to which is something I am able to understand.

I have a few questions... Firstly what is the red/black cable coming in and why is the scotch lock on that red and smaller (I have cut this and replaced with the orange ones you see in the picture) is this problematic? After my mess up of a connection attempt I replaced it with an orange one and my download speeds have dipped right down to 9 mbps from 25 ish

Secondly, is this connection setup correct ( to get a better idea of how I am connecting ill explain my format)

So my format will be like so Colour1/Colour2 connects to Colour1/Colour2

The setup I had tried was...

Orange/White( "line" from filter) to Red/Black (black cable going into demarc)

Blue/white (from black cable going into demarc) to Blue/White (to "phone" on filter)

Green/white ( from filter ) to Green/white ( from Cat5e cable going into house )

Would the correct setup infact be

Orange/white ("Line " from filter) to Blue/white (black cable going into demarc )

blue/white ("phone" from filter ) to blue/white (cat5e into house)

green/white ("DSL" from filter ) to green/white (Cat5e into house)

if i am 100% wrong in both please let me know :( I know my VDSL speeds should be far better than 25mbs down 3.6 mbps up as my house is not that far from the exchange.

Thank you VERY much in advance for any possible help.

Daniel

The black cable with blue/white + red/black is the lead-in. It a appears your service comes in on the blue/white pair, so red/black unused and jumpered together.

Orange pair of splitter will go to blue/white of lead-in.

Green pair of splitter will go to green pair of CAT5e/6 cable. At other end of that CAT5e/6 cable the green pair will punch down on the blue pair of an RJ45 socket. This is your VDSL jack-point

The blue pair of splitter will go to blue pair of CAT5e/6 cable and any other existing POTs cabling. How this is done really depends on the rest of your wiring so can't advise on this without seeing it.
