Hi Team,

So our ONT is located downstairs in a room off the garage on an external wall (this is where our wifi router is located it's a 2 story house with ample crewel space in the ceiling.. now we get quite bad wifi upstarts in the opposite end of the house we looked at getting Powerline ethernet but the room downstairs where the gear is located is on a different circuit to the  room upstarts where the other computer is.. so for us the best bet is to have a wired connection we have been told that is is actually just a small job and that it's best to just get someone to come and do it and pay by the hour and also It's better to run more then one cable for future proofing and cost saving. I don't really think it would take that long and Ethernet cabling is cheap I have been given a contact number of a company to call to get this done but am still waiting for them to contact us back Is there anyone on here that can do is I am in West Auckland. Do you think maybe we should just run a couple of cables to reduce cost and have another router upstairs where there is bad wifi or just get the whole house fitted out with ethernet in every room and then add something in to improve the wifi..

Thanks.

Real coffee drinkers don't do nespresso! Although I will drink that over instant stuff of course :) How soon do you need it done? This week is no go, but could do next week. Flick me a PM with some details if you would like me to get it done.

Cheers

Fraser

I can help, let me know if you want me to come and look at the job. Usually Cat6A is overkill for residential but no problems doing it.

@michaelmurfy yes I got one ceiling mouinted access point put in (that we are able to move to a different location if we want) but we aren't plugging anything into it at this stage will keep it for future use.

Also Off topic but I have feature request....

When I am replying to someone with @ and their use name I would like it if I could get suggestions rather then me having to spell out a name.

Doesn't matter. When you hit Post Reply it strips formatting like that out of your reply.

@webwat why do you say Cat 6 is overkill?

I would think if someone is getting a cable put in they should get the latest available at the time as it will be there for many years.
