Hi all, I’m going to be building a new PC in the near future, but am undecided on which board to get out of the two mentioned in the subject line. Out of the two, if you were building, which would you choose and why? And if you can recommend any that are similar and are up to say $250 in price, please do. Oh and personal preference is for full ATX. The board will be going into a Phanteks P350X case if that’s any help.

From what i recall the Asus b450 has worse vrm then the tomahawk. If you are OC’ing a 2700x to max then get the MSI although im not sure if they added voltage offset to their bios yet.

Otherwise get it based on available feature such as back i/o, usb ports, integrated sound, wifi, pci-e slots and bandwith, sata and m.2 slots for storage etc.

Motherboards are always tricky as there is rarely a perfect board with all the features you want for a reasonable price. Do however look online such as Amazon because the avalability in NZ is sorely lacking. We get the most common boards but not always the good ones stocked here.

I will say that a board with good power delivery and cooling (heatsinks) will generally last quite longer than their budget counterparts.

Cheers, I went with the MSI board in the end.
