45 degrees C and 55 degrees C for those younger than 1970's ;-)

Does sound a little toasty for the hard disk.

How hot is the place you keep the machine ?
Is it stuffed into a tight corner ?
Sitting on carpet and sucked in to many dust bunnies ?
In direct sunlight ?
Got a chassis fan in the machine ?
How much ariflow is there around the hard disk ?  (ie. is it wedged in with lots of ribbon cables ?
