As the subject implies, I'm looking for recommendations for a networkable (ethernet) hard drive for a home network.

My ADSL router supports USB, but this has incredibly slow data transfer rate. Currently transferring off it back to desktop is a woeful most 2MB/s :(

Looking for an external drive (~2TB) that I can hook up to the mains, hook up to the router & let it do it's business as a backup & file share device.

Any suggestions? Open to any advice.

Thanks in advance.

gehenna: The WD MyBook Live is good for a basic NAS.

Agreed.  Very good devices and quite cheap.
