Hi guys.

Got a new Laptop and I don't have Office installed. I have the option of a 1 month trial, however.

I went to see how much it was, but looks like the only option is a yearly subscription? I could be wrong here, and I only had a quick look, but can you no longer but it from a shop for $150-$200, and have it for life?

Again, I'm probably wrong.

This MightyApe link mentions the 1 year subscription. Should I just buy an older version to avoid the yearly fees?

Office 365 is subscription based, so is annual. Office 2016 is not subscription based, and is a one-off purchase.
