At work, I have an HP laptop that connects to a dock.  When docked, I have two monitors (plus the laptop display), and arrange my open programs on specific monitors.  However, when I disconnect it from the dock, and then reconnect it on return, all the programs default to the main display.  Is there a way to set Windows to have those programs return to their designated monitor?  It's a nuisance having to drag the different windows to their respective monitors each time I reconnect my laptop.

Battled with this myself. Ended up using DisplayFusion software to solve. Works brilliantly

There is a native solution but it means that you cannot have the application opened when re-docking, which is a huge pain as it would be easier to just drag windows across (or use shortcuts) than it would be to close and re-open after docking.

Also spent some time trying to create windows triggers for it but just got frustrated. Ended up biting the bullet and installing DisplayFusion
