I got a zire 72 the other day and set it up for a bluetooth hotsyncing. made my com port (in this case port 3) checked the local settings thing and started to sync, it was going good but then I got an error.

"can not complete bluetooth hotsync, com port in use by another Application"

so I checked to make sure nothing else was using port 3, sure enough nothing was.

but I made a few new ports just in case (4-7)

I tried each one but they all had the same error.

not only that but I was at my friends house where there was no bluetooth, and I hit the sync button by accident, and sure enough I got the same error, whats going on!?

anyone know how to remedy this?

here are my relevant specs
win XP SP1
Norton firewall
D-link USB bluetooth adaptor

thanks in advance

First try disabling the Norton firewall - it does interfere with Bluetooth. If it works then you'll have to configure the firewall with proper rules.

Have you follow our Bluetooth Guides? Have a look at the guides and check the steps there.
