I don't know why but my phone is suddenly listening to my commands in terms of connectivity. For example, when I am on wifi, it won't decide to use Vodafone data when I check my mail or go online - apart from Facebook on the homepage, still causes problems.

I have not updated to v11. How big was the install?  Also did the device keep your data intact?

Data is fine.

The updae was not that big...but the process took a little while...not as slow as updating the Maps though.

Have you found any good Aps worth recommending (not already included in the list)
Or any bugs you want tracked....for us to plug away at and hopefully evntually get fixed

Has anyone had any luck running JoikuSpot?

I select 'VF NZ Internet' as the Access Point, but always get the error 'Unable to start JoikuSpot'
I want to have a hotspot Ap running/tested before I disconnect my home wifi.

Ovi maps 3.0 is superb. "Real player, Pfffffrt.... Why o why does Nokia still hang on to this!.

Could someone try (if you are bored and have time etc)
installing x-plore and use it to open a video file internally (It should play back though the hardware decoder and overlay on to the TV-out but play back internally through x-plore with no nasty realplayer involved.)

also install CCAM and try to take a snap and use the shutter half press to focus and centre to snap the image.

I'm curious to see whether the API's are the same as symbian's of past.

that shazam thing in interesting, I had seen it before but lost the name!

OK I can report that Gmail Mobile is not working. You can install it but it crashes when you open it up.

Just tried with lastest xplore 1.33 version, tried to play foo fighters music vid -xvid avi- and wont play.
I'm guessing no codecs available, how do i solve this?

I'm off to find mobile codecs for symbian.

Was about to test this myself, but ya beat me to the punch...

CoolMovie plays divx/avi...but it is not watchable, jerky.

Just read about another litle Ap...the Key Lock Clock...added it to the list.
To install it, ya gota ge it signed, then it works fine.

Just installed MobiSystems MobileDVD also and tried to play vids, all are jerky, guess 400MHz is not fast enough.

Mmmm....feeling a bit mislead in terms of the devices multimedia capabilitys.

I still love the device, adding new functionality to it all the time...but not being able to play divx movies is a huge disapointment...one that has already got me looking at other mobiles.

Wondering about N-Gage...

N-Gage was announced recently as S60v5 N97 compatiable, but then Nokia pulled that annoucement and the version of N-Gage...

I would like to get N-Gage installed, so I can install the World Worms Party game...cool little game.

My good old N95 was able to play videos quite nicely when it was converted from the dvd so I am sure the N97 can too. It must be the quality you guys are talking about that is causing the videos to stutter. The screen is only so big so if you downsize the quality I am sure you won't notice it.

I've converted a bunch of my divx movies to MP4 and the N97 plays them flawlessly.

While divx is a popular method of movie playback its not like every DVD player plays them, sure its a bit of a pain having to convert them, but so is copying that dvd to the right format or setting/finding up your torrents.

Your absolutely right, it does, just figured that a 2009 top model phone should be able to play avi's loaded straight from a computer, without converting.

I'm sure my pentium 75 could play full screen movies.
