Wireless charger is black - this is regardless of the colour of handset you have purchased.

Not true. The red handset I got yesterday has a red charging plate and it is a telecom handset.

By the looks of it the portico update has been released here officially. I have tried to do it however it keeps saying my phone is up to date. Has anyone else had any luck with it so far?

Programmed a NFC tag to open Phone Update when tapped... That will make it easier to check for updates every day for the next few months ;)

Gold!

Put one in bedroom, entrance door, workplace etc.

Or.. You can just manually update it :-)

If I manually update the phone then I am showing Microsoft they win. By not updating and showing how any Windows Phone update takes at least six months to be delivered, I win. At the expense of having a phone with a version 0.1 mobile OS.

One of the "advantages" I guess of a manufacturer not having their own OS. Each can blame the other for the delay in updates arriving.  Yell

A bit off topic but I see Samsung are looking to free themselves from relying on an outside OS.

I will then know I was right and some folks in Redmond were wrong. Nothing will change but I will feel good.

This was discussed many times inside the MVP Windows Phone discussions from years ago when this very same topic was raised internally. The weakest link in the whole platform is the update experience.

i bought a black 920 from telecom for $999 and it had no charging plate.

i then smashed the screen and had to send it for repair. (nokia support is absolutley cr@p) they have had it for almost a month and have still not even started to repair it as they have no parts.....

so, i went and bought another one.

i bought a red 920 from telecom for $999 and it had a black charging plate.

From WPCentral we know Portico is rolling in other countries, including Auz by the sounds of it.

Gettin' pretty damn peeved.

Gives one the impression Microsoft don't care about their customers.

Hey Duncan, sorry you're annoyed, let me give you a quick update.  Yes Portico update hasn't been release as an over the air update in New Zealand yet

Microsoft does care about you and your phone experience, I don't have it on my Lumia 920 that I purchased from Telecom from $999 either.

Nokia, Microsoft and Telecom NZ have been working together to test this update before it gets released as an OTA update to the Telecom NZ Nokia Lumia 920 image

What I can say is the over the air update is coming very shortly, its not months or even weeks and weeks away

Nokia Care can flash the device for you now if you send it or take it into them
