those that got them included for $999 with yellow and red handset, does the charging plate colour match the phone or all black?

Yeah same here, $999 on launch day. At the time the only word out was that the phone was scarce, unlikely to see colours for a while etc. My partner had her eye on the 920 for months, they had one in stock, so we grabbed it.

Offering the charging plate inclusive now has her pretty miffed (she had wanted red as well but it didn't seem likely at the time). You can chalk it up to early adopter woes but argh, it's left a pretty bad taste.

Microsoft does care about you and your phone experience, I don't have it on my Lumia 920 that I purchased from Telecom from $999 either.

Nokia, Microsoft and Telecom NZ have been working together to test this update before it gets released as an OTA update to the Telecom NZ Nokia Lumia 920 image

What I can say is the over the air update is coming very shortly, its not months or even weeks and weeks away

Nokia Care can flash the device for you now if you send it or take it into them

Have just given Nokia Care a phone call regarding taking in my Lumia 920 to get the Portico update flashed on it. The guy at the call centre informed me that Nokia Care in Auckland do not accept walk in customers and that I would need to send it in. Could you please confirm whether we can take our phones into Nokia Care and if so where is the Nokia Care centre located?

As I said it is now a phone store, no longer a Nokia branded place.

Hi Nathan, nice to hear from you and thanks for your reply - I guess it's a personal reply and not on behalf of Microsoft :) - jeez, how long have you been there now, six years or so?.

But mate, your words just ring a bit hollow to me - given Portico ain't gonna change now, I presume, given it's rolling worldwide. ie. what would MS do if they *do* find Portico and Telecom and Nokia Lumia 920 has a few problems? - change Portico and then what, pull Portico (old) and re-release it. Doesn't add up to me.

Additionally it's surely been fairly well tested - hell... plenty of folk here have manually installed it or got it installed via Nokia Care etc - and all have reported no problems with Portico.

I hope the Portico update is not a reflection of future WP OS updates - I really do. It's not good enough - not for me anyway, given the serious bugs we have to currently put up with.

Please *do* pass my sentiments on.

Nathan, another quick wee question...

MS produce ISA Server. So why is there not a wee WP app that is an ISA Client Firewall - support no doubt thousands of coporate customers who can't use WiFi at work behind ISA.

Just an idea :)

I guess you raise a valid point that if people can go to Nokia care and have the portico update installed then it means that the update is final and good to be pushed out. So it really doesnt make much sense why do we have to wait.

there are some unique changes for NZ in the Portico ROM that will be rolling out over the air. So its Portico from Microsoft + some other stuff. That might explain a little more about how this update works and changing things etc

There are obviously ways of flashing it now yourself, search on Navifirm on the net, but honestly I recommend you wait, its not long now

You're feedback is heard, received, passed on. As I mentioned I'm in exactly the same boat as you with a personally purchased $999 black Nokia Lumia 920 with the Telecom NZ image on it, and I'm still waiting...

turn SNAT on the ISA Server is what I'd suggest

You can also add the web proxy settings in under a specific WiFi connection on the phone

Is there a wonderful Thomas Shinder article you can point me to on that? - or maybe an MS article on SNAT?

I've never done it, but it looked daunting when I last looked (some six months or so ago I'd say) - have to define app protocols and every port required, or somethin' like that.

if your existing box is already working as a webproxy, just try pointing your phone to it through the WiFi settings for your work SSID, see if that works

I'm running Portico right now (1006 build) and it still freezes; has anyone experienced these freezing issues, taken it back and received a replaced model that addresses those freezes (the new one no longer freezes)? I'm wondering to what extent I'm better off taking it back and replacing it or just demanding a refund to move over to the HTC 8S which fewer people seem to be having problems with.

You are out of luck. The majority of people around here would be running the original Windows Phone 8 until Portico becomes widely available.

Definitely sure it isn't a rogue application as I've stripped Windows Phone 8 down to only those applications that come part of Windows Phone 8.
