If there a known block/bug that disables Gmail from being pinned to start?

Arg, I'm an egg, it put a tile on the front screen by default at the bottom of the list, when I tried to add it (again), it was blocked because it was already there, doh.

Its irrelevant which Telco SIM you have in the device, updates are controlled by the operator image existing on the phone when it shipped

Yes. It doesn't matter what SIM you have in your device, it's the original ROM operator that dictates when the update is released.

ah, I see. It appears Black is available for "Australia" (purchased from Harvey Norman so not sure who the operator is in this case). I'll wait until I get home and connect to WiFi.

Thanks, I'm happy to pay 0.99 to remove the ads. Now I just need to setup a payment method ;-)

You can check for updates over the mobile network, and if there's an update available download later over WiFi.

Thanks. I'll wait a few weeks for beta testing to complete.

Edit: Can WP8 updates be rolled back / restored to factory?
