Microsoft NZ have already stated they will be available from the Microsoft NZ store, and from a local telco operator there

both incl GST already.

They haven't announced any dates yet.
Well, that pretty much settles where I'll be purchasing my one from.  Is the band2 likely to make it to the NZ store?

UHD: https://www.microsoft.com/en-nz/mobile/ - "Lumia smartphones can be found on our Australian site. Select the link below to check them out."

I'm assuming that the new 950 & 950 XL will be available through the Australian site. That will mean tax for anyone buying them to import, right? I would really like to see a sample of that promised 4k video though.

And since VF have announced that they won't have it, we can take an educated guess as to whom it might be. If 2DM or Spark can tell us they won't have it, then we'll know who does.

It would be quite a change in 2DMs track record with WP to pickup a flagship phone.   Where as spark had both the 920 (I think) and the 1020.   I'd be willing to bet they'll be the ones picking up the 950/XL, but as you say we'll know for sure as soon as we get one more network to comment on it either way.

I just hope that NZ also gets offered the free continuum dock accessory like most of the countries.

I notice Clove have both the 950 XL and the 950 for good prices. Taking tax and shipping in to account, the 950 XL will ship ~3rd Dec for NZ$1201.33 and the 950 for NZ$1026.60. That is pretty decent considering the uncertainty in NZ.

B&H Photo video now have both the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL available for pre-order. The XL is $20 cheaper than RRP @ USD$630. USD$40 for DHL shipping. Should be under NZ$1200 incl shipping and customs. It's also confirmed Dual SIM.

Australian Microsoft store now has the Lumia 950 XL available for pre-order at cheaper price than the original place holder price. AUD$1129. That's only $50 more than recommended USD$ pricing with taxes and currency conversion including.

I'll be picking up a 950 when in Sydney early next year and claiming back the GST on the way out again.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a buffer in case of exchange rate fluctuations or otherwise Microsoft would be revising their prices almost every other day just to keep up. What ever the case maybe I hope they (Microsoft) sort themselves out and update their website because this lag between announcing and making available is zapping any possible excitement there might have been around the product.

Now that is what I like - buying straight from the source. Btw, because it is bought straight from Microsoft does that mean it isn't carrier branded meaning the updates come straight from Microsoft rather than weaving through the bureaucracy that is the carrier 'certification' process?

Edit: Btw, the Surface Pro 4, the 950 XL - you're tempting a long time Apple user back to Windows! the temptation is so great!
