So to clarify,

If you buy this phone from telecom and put a vodafone sim in it. You will need to put a telecom sim back into the phone to update it?

robax: Do you think that means they'll be in the shops as well or just on the site?
Rob

OK, Sorry If It seems like I am asking stupid questions.

The phones are "registered" to an operator, independent of the SIM card being used. If you bought from a Telecom store, then it's a Telecom handset for all purposes, regardless of SIM.

Cool so then with the exception of 4G this phone will function flawlessly on Vodafone and receive all applicable updates :)

Don't worry, no stupid Qs

The OS image shipped on the device, controls when updates are received after Telco approval
