Thanks, coming from WP7.8 do I have to re-purchase apps I owned for WP8? I assumed that I could just re-download them, but I keep seeing prices/buy buttons in the store

not sure on windows 7.8 to 8, but speaking from experience with Windows 8 after a phone hardware reset, click on the buy button, and the next screen says you have already purchased this, do you want to install again - or similar wording.

Yep.. just did it for me with puzzle quest 2 :)  (it's important apps like these that need to be installed)

Got mine.. last one in black!

Absolutely no sign of any accessories of course, and I doubt they'll bring any in judging from pas experience.

Has anyone found the battery grip elsewhere here in NZ?

hmm yes... Looks like an HK company run from the UK. The grip seems to be a reasonable price though.

I see there are also plenty on eBay now, also mostly from the UK.

I'll have a browse through the options and get one.

ok cool, I'll hold tight for a bit. I nearly ordered one, but decided I'd wait for a few days and see how the phone goes.
Just about to unpack it now finally!

couple of quick questions re the wireless chargers.

I see several different systems for these.

Wireless Plate and a wireless Pillow. Whats the main advantages of each.
I note also there are an special wireless charging cover.
Presumably you need this for both of the above mentioned methods.

I suppose this question would be best answered by Nathan??

With the 1020 you need the special cover. The plate is smaller than the pillow, but the pillow would hold the phone better on uneven surfaces... e.g. arm of a sofa.

There's also a Nokia wireless car charger , which in my view is the best place for wireless charging, with NFC to trigger BT or Drive, but it's of crummy quality and doesn't hold the phone well on its side.

One downside of topping up during the day via wireless charging is uneven charging, leading to shorter battery life. The other downside is you actually have to put the phone on the pad at night.. something that seldom happens when one is using the phone for reading or gaming before falling asleep.

For the 1020 I'm not getting wireless, but will likely get the battery grip for holidays.
