Hi:

Any RPG MMO recommendations for a mature 13 year old girl who really wants to get into an MMO?

Was thinking GW2, but not sure if that's one of the better choices..

Can any advise.

The thing about mmos, is its such a selective thing.

one persons pet hate mmo will be another ones dream.

if your trying to pick one to pot forward with a reasonable community, honestly a decent guild or such would be the difference between that, hopefully she has a thick skin towards the minority of distasteful twits out there... they are everywhere.

Of recent my 13 year old sister has been getting into the marvel Heroes 2015(doesn't appeal to me one bit so i cant really comment on the quality of it) could be worth a shot. - its a F2P title on Steam.

Try a Starter Edition of World of Warcraft. Means you don't have to pay anything but can play to level 20. Downside is you can't really interact with other people but it will give you a basis of how the game looks, etc., and you can much about with all the various classes.

There are a number of good free-to-play games out there but I would guess that a 13 year old would want stuff that can only be obtained from the cash store and that can end up way more expensive than paying the monthly sub for WoW.

Beware that WoW is a 25GB or so download.

Also, its tough to select one for someone younger because of the mature (and immature) people who play - language etc can get a bit full on if your kid has not been exposed to it before.

Myself and all of my mates played WoW hardcore through high school and passed with flying colours.
So back to the OP's question, I would recommend GW2 or WoW.
And with GW2 having no subscription is a plus.

I've found Guild Wars 2 pretty fun recently, but I'm only up to lvl 20 so I can't speak for later on in the game

I had a look at it a couple of months ago, it was so buggy that most of the quest givers wouldn't work. And the graphics are still worse than your average basic modern game like GoatSim.

The GFX are fine for what it is, it keeps it playable for those players who cant afford the latest $1000 video card etc and makes its playable on laptops, which equals bigger potential market for Blizzard.

They do have bugs occasionally but are pretty quick about resolving them usually.

Or conversely the game is old and Blizzard has become such a lumbering beast that it's no longer evolving at a pace with modern games. The bugs weren't occasional. I couldn't play more than 20 minutes before hitting a bug that stopped the starter quest line. It wouldn't be resolved for a couple of days. That's barely playable. There's no need to be apologising for Blizzard, they've been raking in millions of dollars for long enough that something better should have materialised by now.

My vote would be for Guild Wars 2 as well.

I have played a few MMOs, including WoW and GW2.

GW2 is far less grindy, grindy than the other games. Sure there are grinds to get some gear. But, they don't constantly obsolete stuff like other games. Pretty much any gear you get will still be good in the future.

Also, no monthly fees!

There will be an xpac sometime this year. But, overall cost is still way below monthly payment games like WoW.
