What do people think on using intergrated graphics to run 3D applications... not a super fast system... running 2x 3GB CPU's - 2GB RAM etc.. will this handle any 3D or new release games? or do I have to fork out for a new Graphics/video card?

Youll probably find itll struggle on any newer games.
If you plan to play games for any decent amount of time, then I highly recommend a dedicated video card.

I agree with XPD if you are planning to play new released games you are better off to add a dedicated graphics card and they go quite cheap this days of course when i mean cheap i don't mean the 8800Ultra.

You could always go for an older card, if your motherboard supports AGP.

Something like a 6600GT will run ALOT of games whilst being cheap (ie; $100 or less perhaps).

You're not really future proofing yourself at all though, you're best to go with an 8XXX series card, I hear the 8600 is pretty cheap these days.

Check out www.pricespy.co.nz for pricing.

If you descide to buy card i think the 7600GT is a great performer I used to play FarCry on the highest settings with that card but i descided to upgrade to 8600GT and guess what to my naked eye i notice no difference between this two however the 8600GT is newer tech but rubbish performance for price and too little memory for newer games. as when i upgrade it from 6600GT to 7600GT it was huge the performance gain. If you go for high end or midhigh end card will pay to check if current PSU will run it with the other components in the PC.

Wow i couldn't imagine going back to a Intel 945GM or any intergrated GPU since life without shaders is a dull one. I know one of ati's 3870X2 beats a 8800Ultra but not a 9800GX2
