Is it worth an extra $200-250 to get any X1x with the original slim Xbox one system for a 1080p screen? We might upgrade with the price drops of 4k HDR Led Tvs lately, but not garuntee as its the Mrs decision on that one as Ive exhausted my piggy bank.

My understanding is that with supersampling the X will look better on a 1080p screen than an S.

Probably not worth replacing an S if you already have one until you upgrade the TV, but if you have neither and are deciding what to get - get the X.

xbox one s cant always do 1080p, more often than not its doing sub 900p. Also the xbox one x can achieve 60fps. So I could see the argument to get a X for a 1080p screen.

But at twice the price... maybe it would be better to invest in a 4k tv first?

It's more expensive, but certainly not twice the price.

EDIT: Plus the X is black. I held off on getting an S (before the X came out) until I could get a non-white one.

There are benefits, game load times and frame rate are better. But the main benefits are HDR and 4K which.... one of which you already get with Xbox One S. I'd hold off getting an X until you're also getting a 4K TV.

Thanks all, I figured they only need an Xbox 1. Me personally I only play sports games and I am not one of the lucky ones that can see past 35fps etc. I think I can if I really squint and concentrate I might see 1 frame everynow and then not fluent.

All the games should generally be the same I imagine, as in game play.

I'd agree if the OP already has an S. But I wouldn't advise buying an S now, only to potentially want to replace it with an X when the TV gets upgraded.

If the OP already has an S, or has no intention of upgrading his TV in the foreseeable future - then probably not worth getting an X at this point. If OP doesn't have an Xbox One at all, and there is a fair chance he will upgrade to a 4K TV in the foreseeable future, IMO getting the X now makes sense.

xbox one x is $599 from one retailer I've never heard of, everywhere else its $669+. Xbox one S is generally around $380ish, but goes on sale some what regularly for $300. However looking at it, they have stopped selling the 500GB model which was for $300 and the 1TB goes on sale fair regularly for $350. So not exactly twice the price, but close enough to use the expression IMO.

The XboneX still has the AMD Jaguar cpu that all current gen consoles have (ps4/slim/pro xbone/S), games that are designed to run at 30fps will still run at 30 although with less drops as it's clocked to 2.3GHz over 1.7GHz.

Really the point of the X is the far bigger GPU on it for 4k or if you'd like 1080p supersampling. Until next gen when we hopefully get good Ryzen chips any console you get now will be held back by the CPU.

I look at it this way: the difference in price is only the cost of 2 (maybe 3) new release games.

I could be tempted by a One-X if the price starts with a five and there's an acceptable game chucked in.
