For those who have a Sony X9000H it doesn’t support the series X at 4K120 yet, i ran Ori and got a message to that effect so did some searching, it seems that it only supports PS5 atm. The video I watched suggested Sony do intend to support other platforms so I guess there is still hope on a future update. (I’m running the latest firmware)

My Series X arrived at 8am from MightyApe, already playing series X enhanced games. It's heavy, but a lot smaller than I expected.

Guessing you are in Auckland? Ours got dispatched on "Sunday". Last scan was yesterday at Rosedale (Albany). So who knows where its at.

It just turned up a minute ago. No scans between Rosedale and out for delivery! Very odd.

BTW this was in Wellington

Picked mine up mid morning from HN.

Waited until my son came home from school, then we did an unboxing setup etc!

Straight forward setup. The console seems to force you down the route of using the app for Android or iOS to set it all up. The Power usage choice is misleading, because further in from the menu it wants Instant On!!! Which can't be used with low power setting... hmm.

The initial update is 780Mb

There is a controller update which took around 4-6 mins to apply

Bought COD and Dirt5, as well as redeeming the 14 day Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Once month free if you add CC and want it reoccurring, which I was going to do.

We have Dirt5 downloading now, thank you UFB and Gigabit connection or you would be here all day waiting for the digital download. It is a slight anti climax, unless you have purchased a disk that you get the console all setup...lovely 4K, set the sound output to complement the soundbar... then there is the wait...for a game!

After the initial excitement I need to spend some time looking through the TV output settings, sort a static IP, sort port forwarding out. That will be later this week or at the weekend.

Anyway, its a solid heavy piece of kit, all packaged up in a suitably sized, albeit slightly smaller than expected case.

The controller feels just like any other xbox controller other than the raised, grip like texture on the back of the handles.

...waiting for Dirt5, the kids have resorted to playing with a HelloFresh cardboard box, rather than the $800 Xbox

The little things make the biggest difference.

So a very special bit of thanks to a GZ'r who decided he wasn't too worried about getting his Xbox Series X day one, saw I was bummed I missed out, contacted me and offered to sell me his one, and just charged me the sticker price without any extra on top. I don't know if he would want to be named, but you know you are, and I think you are an awesome Kiwi!

We need more people like you in the world :)

I have dinner with my wife tonight, but after that, I am hoping to get a couple hours in of playing tonight!

So it went out for delivery and has now returned back to the depot. Pretty shocking from pbtech for a major console preorder to not get them to customers on the actual release day.

Just a reminder for those coming back to Xbox and have never had gamepass, you can still stack up to 3 years of Xbox live gold on to your account using codes and spend $1 to upgrade all 3 years to game pass ultimate, I think the 14 day trial would probably also do the conversion. If you're in it for the long haul and can stump up the cash upfront it's absolutely worth considering going down this path, bring gamepass in to way under its RRP.

A year of Xbox live is $90 on eb games but I'm sure you can find it cheaper on sites like cd keys and and potentially risk using overseas codes. Even at $90 it's still far less than the $240 full price. Details are all in the gamepass faq on Microsoft's website, they just don't shout about the upgrade to gold converting month for month anymore. Once you've got gamepass new gold codes will convert to much less, but right now you can let it run out after the trial period and the adding gold to convert.

That right there is my biggest fear with my ps5. Or the courier will knock on the neighbors door and not mine and just leave a card to call and bugger off and ill miss out on launch day.

How is it PBTechs fault your courier didn't deliver it?

Unlike the other retailers pbtech only created the manifests for delivery today, so no pick-up yesterday for delivery today. So the courier was fine but pbtech dropped the ball on day 1 release.

If it went out for delivery and back to depot doesn't that mean it was attempted for delivery?

No never got here, manifest and collection from manukau occurred this morning then on to the east tamaki sorting depot before being dumped on a courier but really late, nearly 2pm. Issue is that pbtech didn't send out day before for delivery today... That's what I'm annoyed about, unlike other retailers that managed to do day of release delivery, pbtech didn't.

Because the courier is working as an agent for PBTech to get the goods to the customer, so any failure is someone that PB chose to do the work for them.

So many retailers fob off to the customer to go and pick up from depot or similar after couriers have failed to do their job. Its not the recipiants job to do that, its the senders job to provide the service which was paid for, which in this case is a delivered playstation 5 on launch day.

Similar sitch with Spark.

The status of my order was incorrect and therefore when corrected, my unit was only picked up at 7pm last night. So it should arrive today, 11th.

Bummed about never receiving it on the over hyped release day.
