Player from Christchurch posting first time in here but been playing since the first week. I was a day one player but created a new account as they said using a 'Pokemon Trainer' account will net you benefits, seen none so far.

I am still missing Primeape, Muk, Machamp, Lapras, Aerodactyl and Snorlax from Gen 1.

Gen 2 so far caught 33: Chikorita, Bayleef, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Sentret, Furret, Hoothoot, Noctowl, Ledyba, Spinarak, Crobat, Chinchou, Natu, Xatu, Marill, Sudowoodo, Hoppip, Aipom, Sukern, Yanma, Wooper, Murkrow, Pineco, Gligar, Snubbull, Qwilfish, Teddiursa, Slugma, Remoraid, Octillery, Mantine, Skarmory, Houndour.

Evolved 3: Espeon, Umbreon and Porygon 2.

My eggs so far have been Gen 1 but got all the babies (6) previously apart from Pichu.

My main attack team at the moment is:

  • Rhydon | 2726 | Rock Smash / Stone Edge
  • Gyarados | 2725 | Bite / Hydro Pump
  • Vaporeon | 2099 | Water Gun / Hydro Pump
  • Jolteon | 1773 | Thunder Shock / Thunder
  • Alakazam | 1636 | Confusion / Future Sight
  • Wigglytuff | 1484 | Pound / Hyper Beam
  • Cloyster | 1408 | Ice Shard / Blizzard (Legacy)
  • Nidoking | 1359 | Poison Jab / Sludge Wave
  • Exeggcutor | 1313 | Extrasensory / Solar Beam

I am lamenting the two hours I spent renaming my Pokémon in the game last night to reflect the new movesets. And a few of the prestigers I sent to the grinder. Hopefully my perfect Flareon that got its moves nerfed into the ground will be epic once more.

Ouch; I only spend an hour or so slightly remaining mine, adding a note that they are legacy. No deletions .. and it paid off.

What also paid off was the 850km I spent walking a weak Dragonite. Hatch a Dratini yesterday so evolved into a very good Dragonite and then spent more candy leveling up to over 3000CP (then hatched another one to give me some more candy)

Hatched a Larvitar this morning, so he is my new buddy - 108 candies required to fully evolve so quite the walking distance required.

Down to needing 28 Gen 2 Pokemon ...

Nice hatch! I have almost 100 Dratini candy thanks to a productive trip to the Viaduct the other day combined with the odd Dratini at the water spawn point on the creek at the bottom of my street and a strategic combo of ultra balls and Pinap berries (love those things), but so far the best Dratini I have to evolve is only 80 IV. It's 621 CP, though, which is quite compelling. I'm currently walking an Omanyte because I have a 96 IV Omastar that I caught at a nest and want to evolve.

I must say I'm a bit miffed at the growing number of Pokemon we can't get in NZ, especially when some regions can access three region-locked species. I still have 39 empty spots in my Gen2 Pokedex but that includes the six legendaries plus Heracross, Corsola, Delibird and Smeargle - so I still need 29. I suspect they'll be a lot harder to catch than the first bunch.

The Pokemon Day event should be interesting. The wording of the announcement (Pikachu "leading the Pokemon Day celebrations in Pokemon Go") makes me think there will be more than just Pikachu with a hat.

Didn't the Xmas event basically have Pikachu in a hat and not much else?

It also had increased hatch rates for the new Gen2 baby Pokemon and one free incubator per day from Pokestops, plus the specially-priced gift boxes. So it wasn't massive, but it was more than just a hat :)

25 left to go, with the majority of those either being the 3 stage evolutions or Gen 1 evolves that require a special item.

For those who work around Queen Street, Auckland - are you seeing any Mareep/Flaaffy or Ampharos? Reports show these seem to be "desert" biome Pokemon, which based on other common desert Pokemon (Pidgey, Rattata, Paras, Ekans, Growlithe, Eevee, Venonat, Spearow and Mankey) fits what I saw along Queen Street when I was there for Labour weekend.

Sadly I can't find a similar spot in Dunedin ..

I'm based on the Shore and so far I've not seen a Mareep at all. Someone caught an Ampharos in Papakura the other day. They appear to be super rare.

I work in the city, and also used to see a lot of rattata and Pidgeys etc around where I live but I haven't seen any of those three on my travels so far.

Have you guys seen many of the Gen 2 10k Pokemon?

I still haven't got Lapras, Aerodactyl and Snorlax from Gen 1 yet in Gen 2 already have Mantine, Pineco, Skarmory and Sudowoodo. Are they just the Gen 1 Pinsirs and Magmars?

I've hatched a Skarmory and two Pineco, plus caught a wild Pineco and a couple of Sudowoodo. Caught maybe three or four Mantine (love its animation!). I'm not sure any of them are very useful, unlike Lapras and Snorlax that are decent in gyms. Maybe Skarmory might be. In one way it's nice that Gen2 hasn't come along and made Gen1 mons irrelevant, but at the same time it'd be nice to see a bit more variety in gyms. I don't do a lot of battling but I do get excited to battle something new now and then.

Hatched 13 10km eggs in the last week; 4x Pineco, 4x Dratini, Miltank, Mantine, Larvitar and 2x Skarmory
Locally I see plenty of Sudowoodo and the odd Skarmory and Gligar in the wild. No wild Pineco, but I have enough now.

All the Dratini's have been a welcome bonus - only had one hatch in the last 7 months

Wow - I envy your Dratini hatches! I think valuable Gen1 Pokemon have been increased in eggs - I've had about 3 Bulbasaur and a Charmander from 2 km eggs this last week.

^ Majority of my 2km and 5km eggs have been Gen 1, though enough Gen 2 have stuck in to add a few PokeDex entries

Phanpy has been a pretty common 5km hatch however - never seen a wild one but have hatched 6 so far (sadly only one has been useful and was converted into Donphan

What annoys me slightly with eggs is that a few seem to be completely missing - Hoppip, Sunkern, Snubbull, Teddiursa, and Houndour (might be more) ... wonder if they will be added, or over time others removed so these can be added.

So is anyone else on Android besides me having major issues logging in using Google account?

Been offline for approx 4 days now, starting to consider giving it all up!

According to twitter Pokémon GO is being updated to version 0.57.3 for Android and 1.27.3 for iOS to implement performance improvements. Hopefully that will fix...
