Wow that's really bad luck. I've seen 823 and caught 782 of them.
Crikey, that's some rotten RNG! And my son is complaining about being at approx 1200 Swablu without a shiny. Been having some decent IV luck from my weekly research breakthroughs. Got a 100% Suicune (yay?) and a 100% Lugia so far. I think my only other perfect legendary is a Latios.

It's pretty much a running joke now. I stopped worrying about shinies ages ago though. When it comes down to it, they don't add to the dex as such and they don't have anything special other than the different colour. I think I have less than a quarter of the available shiny variants so far.
Yeah, there's not much you can do about them - there's no chaining or shiny charm - and most of them are useless. My shiny Lugia is 96% and I'm tempted to power that up for the Master League PVP, and I have a good IV shiny Tyranitar, but most of them are just trophies.
I forgot to mention that I'm anticipating a Hoenn event when the hatchathon finishes next week. Both it and Heatran finish on the same day, and the Pokemon Go newsletter hinted: We’ve heard reports of a migration pattern that could affect the appearance of Pokémon originally discovered in the Hoenn region. Perhaps we’ll know more later this month...
Some people are interpreting that as something to do with regionals, because of the use of "migration" but I think that might just be a red herring. I'd love a Hoenn event because I really like Gen 3, and I'm hoping against hope that we get a return of the Weather Trio, or at the very least, Groudon or Rayquaza with a shiny possibility. It's also possible they could use it to feature Jirachi special research, although I understand that Jirachi is normally tied to a festival in July (but there's no way they'd leave an 8-month gap after the Let's Go research).
Also, I got an EX pass for during Community Day hours this Sunday. Thank goodness it's at the EX gym at our normal CD location (which I hardly ever raid at, funnily enough), so we'll be there anyway. Otherwise it would have been a bit of a pain in the butt.

I was very happy getting a shiny Growlithe from research on Friday; no EX passes for me however as my availability to raid EX locations is few and far between
Just hatched a shiny Wynaught on my lunch walk. So that plus a 100% smoochum were the best of the hatched babies over the break.
Obviously the Aucklanders will already know this; however having now ridden a Lime Scooter, I can confirm they are no good to trying to play Pokemon Go, while riding :-)
They however could be good for trying to get to raids slightly quicker ...
LOL, you'll never catch me on one of those. Nearly got wiped out by someone riding one during November's Community Day though.

I had a small run of shiny luck in the last 24 hours; pulled up at home after walking the dogs and found my last caught Pokemon was a shiny Shellder
Opened my Breakthrough Reward to find a shiny Lugia waiting for me
Nice! And we have three shiny weekends coming up, with Totodile Community Day this Sunday, Feebas limited research next Sunday and shiny Psyduck to coincide with the Safari Zone in Brazil the weekend after that.

We had our first "bad" community day in Dunedin - about 45 minutes into the event, the forecast rain arrived (and it was quite heavy) so it was a case of standing under shelter, catching what was around, then running to the next bit of shelter .. etc
Even with the rain, I still managed to catch around 350 Pokemon including 13 shinies (best shiny was Level 35, 82%) and did some trading afterwards getting a few 96%. I evolved a stored 96% and then evolved a lucky 96% as well, which broke my "only evolve 1 Pokemon with Community Day moves - however, PVP has changed things just slightly .. so now I wish I could go back and evolve another starter ..
The Feebas event will be interesting and I hope that the tasks are pretty simple in order to be able to clear out as many tasks as possible in order to get a shot at plenty of shinies.. That being said I might stop after I have 2 males and 2 female shinies ..otherwise it's just more stuff that takes up bag space that I will eventually have to clear out - which reminds me, I need re-evaluate my shinies from the extended Community Day and see how they fit into my collection compared to what I already had.
About 150 Totodile's caught, 5 shinies found. I don't bother about IV's but I'm happy with that result.
I still haven't found any of the new ones that are meant to come from 7km eggs.
About 10 Totodile caught across two accounts. No shiny.
But evolved a previously caught 98% on each account to get the moveset.
On the plus side, I had way more fun racing my real car than catching virtual things. :-D
It's all priorities in the end.
