Still no shiny Spoink for me, but I did catch my first Sheildon this morning, so that was nice.

I hear they are in 10km eggs now, too, along with Cranidos. They've updated the standard egg pool by the sound of it (starters now in 2km eggs, Buizel in 5km eggs) so I might do a half and half mix with 7km for a bit. I realise that there are Happiny and new shiny babies to hatch from 7km now, but they're not going away and if the Christmas event is anything to go by, odds will improve later.

How was Swinub community day for everyone?

Managed to get two perfects, along with 11 shinies (best was 82%); ended up evolving one of the perfects and a 96% that I got via a trade (not a lucky) into Mamoswine with the exclusive move, and then another 96% with normal moves. I have some stardust to spend soon on powering up those Mamoswines, but no real need at the moment ..

Ours was great. Spawns were amazing. I had a good line-up of Piloswine to evolve - caught and traded a lot during the Christmas event. Caught 7 shinies - best was 84% so I evolved it with the exclusive move for collectability. I caught a non-shiny 98% and evolved that along with a 96% and an 89% lucky, gave them all a second charged move (Avalanche) and powered them up to L35. Don't need them right now but I've got so much dust that I felt like it was time I splashed out a little, lol. I'm hoping that one day move buffs will apply to raids too and that I've somewhat future-proofed them. If that never comes to pass, maybe I'll TM Ancient Power to one of the other moves for clearing gyms or something. One of my shinies conveniently was perfect for Ultra League (went to 2492 with just a few power-ups) so that got evolved with a second charged move (currently Bulldoze) and I also found - after a lot of checking - one that was good for Great League with just a couple of power-ups. That also got a second move (Avalanche). Lastly, all the other good ones I was sitting on got evolved after the CD hours had expired so that I got some pure double-ice Mamoswine. I'll power them up when Rayqyaza finally returns.

The new APK looks very interesting, although I understand it doesn't actually work yet. Purchasable token to change teams (NEVER!!!), moves for Smeargle, partner event badges, more code for Snapshot. Particularly interesting, it appears that Pokemon may be able to photobomb your AR encounters (Have {0} surprise encounters in AR Snapshot). There's also a new encounter type - Photobomb. New loading screen with Smeargle and Mr Mime. Intrigued to see what part Mr Mime plays. Should be a very interesting week, assuming they manage to release an APK that actually works, lol!

There were so many spawns that we could have just sat at the quad-lure at Hurstmere Green the whole time. In the end we only did one loop because there were so many we had to stop repeatedly to check them all. A good problem to have!

So what are peoples thoughts on them announcing two weekend events so close to the weekend?

My weekend allowed me shift things around to do the Clamperl 3 hours on Sunday, but I am doubtful I can form raid groups on Saturday/Sunday to try and go after Latios/Latias (whatever one it is) ..

Played around with Go Snapshot; without the advanced AR+ features it is very underwhelming and I only hope that when it fully launches are RNG Smeargle catches are a thing, then maybe it will get better .. 

The short notice is a pain, but I'm really not a fan of having both events simultaneously, because I'll have to sacrifice one for the other. They'll need to have Latias spawning prolifically for us to have any chance at a shiny, or an insanely high shiny rate.

I'm not interested in the Latias event so won't bother with that, but I'll do the Clamperl one. Not sure if I'll head to Takapuna or just do a round of Glenfield/Bayview in the car.

Clamperl is a new dex entry, so I might put half an effort into finding a task or two.  Do you have to complete the tasks within the time window?  Or just whenever once you have the task?

I have a few Latias, so may do one or two raids if timing suits, but not overly bothered.  Need more candy for the 100% Palkia currently.

You can complete the tasks you pick up during the event (4pm to 7pm this Sunday) at any time after the event.

I'd like a shiny Latias (and I believe they're useful for PVP) so I'm keen to do a few. I won't go mad on Clamperl - the weather is looking a bit iffy so we might just drive around the neighbourhood a bit. I'm more interested in the mini water event that's happening with the Clamperl tasks - there's a guy who has correctly leaked the last few events (down to the finest detail) who suggested boosted shiny rates of Krabby and Wailmer, plus there are plenty of other potential shinies. We'll probably end up doing a combo of Clamperl tasks, shiny hunting, and the odd Latias raid thrown in.
