Hi All.

I installed a USB BT dongle on a Win98 laptop. The s/w it came with didnt work properly so I used the MSI BT software and it worked perfectly - could share files, activesync with my ipaq, connect to GPRS using my mobile etc etc

I now have a new laptop with Win2k and then I installed the dongle and s/w on this it intially seemed to work. However although it discovered my Z600, it would not discover the ipaq. So I did the sensible thing and restarted the laptop and the ipaq. However when the laptop restarted, it could not detect the dongle.

Now despite restarts, remove/replug dongle, it is not picked up at all. When plugged in, Win2K recognises the USB device but the bluetooth software cannot detect it.

After searching on google, it seems there are issues with moving between PCs, but I want to reset the dongle somehow so I can use it on my new laptop only and not the old one. Can anyone please help as this is driving me crazy!

Thanks.

There is nothing written to the dongle when using it, so it shouldn't need a "reset". Are you connecting this directly to your computer or to a USB HUB?

Also, check that the power options for your USB hardware are not checked (the USB Root Power Management tab in your Device Manager).

The bluetooth dongle is connected directly to the usb port of the laptop. I have since discovered it is a CC&C product, it was provided with a CD with widcomm s/w which does not seem to provide a working BT modem. When I contacted widcomm they said I should go to CC&C website for drivers but they dont have any on there unfortunately. Can you suggest drivers which would work with this dongle on Win 2k?

TIA.

There are a few people around here and other forums that actually copied the drivers from other manufacturers and changed some configuration files to make it work with third party dongles. You might have to look for the posts here and contact the author, since we don't have this information in our forums as per our policy.
