Another benefit of the GWN7000, is that it can be powered by PoE, via the LAN1 port.

So in my home network cabinet, I have a single 8 port gigabit PoE switch, that powers both the GWN7000 and a GWN7610, as well as a secondary 8 port switch.
Keeps things much simpler having only one device power brick.

I wasn't aware of that and actually that is pretty cool. What is your second switch that is powered by PoE?

Primary PoE switch which powers everything is a D-Link DGS-1100-08P (8 port PoE gigabit).
Secondary switch powered by PoE is a Netgear GS108t.

At home I'm using a GWN7610 paired with a GWN7000, and this works flawlessly, no issues at all.

Just make sure both devices are running the most recent firmware, and the 7610 is 'Discovered' by the 7000 router, and then everything is managed by the 7000, one simple login.

Thats how I was hoping it would be. Now I'm sitting here and after changing an upgrade setting from https to http and rebooting the 7610 its now hopefully updating itself from 1.0.1.27 but its taken a really long time and now I see its failed anyway.

Finally got 7610 to update to 1.0.4.22 and now it shows up on list of available wifi on phones and stuff. Yay. Finally. Only trouble is everything I try to connect gives 'Authentication Problem'. Any ideas perhaps ? I'm using the wifi password on the back of the 7610 unit.

and apparently I shouldn't have been using the password on the back of the 7610, its in the software instead. Obvious really...

Does anyone know how to enter static routes into the GWN7000 (to block Google) ? I had them on my Asus but everything seems to have a different name

Long answer - You don't, use DSTNAT which is built into the router to redirect Port 53/DNS to the routers DNS server (or another DNS server on the network).

I would take 'NextHop' as being the gateway.

So just do 8.8.8.8 routes to 192.168.1.66 (or literally any random IP of your choosing)

Thanks. I shall see if I get any further, but I've put my old router back on for now. No fiddling with static routes and wifi over the long weekend for me - its definitely SWMBO time !

Wot R U doing? You just have to replace the Google DNS servers 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 against an other DNS like 84.200.69.80 and 84.200.70.40. No static routing.
