Hello there.

So my network consists of the main modem/router (Netgear N600) which sits in the living room which is the only place it can be due to the lack of ports.

This then splits off to two separate areas  using cat 6 Ethernet. At the end of those two cables are a bunch of devices I want wired. First room is two Computers that need ether net, Second room has 5 consoles and another PC that needs Ethernet.

Previous to this week I was on Slingshots unlimited broadband plan, which had max speeds of 15 up, 2 down and so we upgraded to Vodafone yesterday which gives ups 130 down, 10 up. Reason being is we do a lot of streaming and we need the better upload speed for twitch.

But previously I was using 2 old routers (not ancient just out of use) to act as switches by simply tuning off DHCP but I noticed that when I performed a speed test on any of the PC's with my new connection the speed test went from 130mps (running straight from the router) to about 20~40 via the router.

So I read some stuff online about settings and stuff and duplex and all sorts of jazz and so this morning I went out and bought two real switches. I explained my problem to the guy at PB and asked him if it would solve my problem, he said yes and I purchased two TP-LINK TL-SF1005D'S  which are 5-port 10/100mbs switches.

Brought them home, installed and I still have the same problem, still only getting 20-30 mbs on the speed test. Granted the switches were only $15 each but should I have purchased a super duper gigabit switch thing in order to get full speed despite the switches saying they support up to 200mbs?

Is it even a real issue seeming my upload speeds are still the same across all switches and that was our main reason for upgrading? Not to mention hardly anything on the internet get actually deliver me content at 130mbs.

Any help/guidance/advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

M00S3: So would you suggest something like this?

TP LINK TL SG1005D 5 PORT GIG-SWITCH 10/100/1000Mbps

That should let you max out your new internet, yes. $33 from PBTech if I'm not mistaken either. Welcome to Geekzone by the way! :)
