I have just upgrade to VDSL (vodafone) and I am using the HG659 by Huawei. I have connected my 1TB USB to my router and I can access my USB drive from any device that hooked up to my LAN and WLAN.

Problem is that I can't seem to figure out how I can access my USB hard drive from work. I don't want to leave my PC switched on.

I can see that the router GUI has the option to enable FTP, which I have enabled, but I am unable to connect using an external network e.g my. work or my phone (using 3G).

Has anyone been able to connect to their USB drive via their router (using FTP or something similar) from an external network?

If you have, can you please share your experience here and how you manage to do the set-up.

Cheers
S

Look in the Internet -> network security tab under ACL.

There is mention of FTP with access direction LAN. try change that to WAN and see what happens...

Make sure the FTP is secure before you expose to the internet...
