Hi there

I'm hoping someone might be able to help with 2 issues please.

We have a Panasonic Viera TV UT50Z and a Panasonic Blu Ray in the BTT series.

First problem is we can no longer see the laptop screen on the TV with an HDMI cable via the 'PC' selection on the TV screen.

Second problem is with DLNA. I've managed to set it up and can see the home network on the TV screen, which includes 2 laptops and the Vodafone ADSL Router. I can even see the icon for the movie I have sitting in Windows Media Player on my laptop. However whenever I try to play or view anything on either laptop I get the message "Cannot connect. Please confirm Network connection and settings".

In home network settings on my laptop I've ensured that "all devices are allowed to access my shared media".

I ran a "Homegroup Troubleshooter" which tells me there is a network issue, but network diagnostics cannot tell the the problem.

If anyone is able to help that would be great as it's driving me craaaaazy!

Thanks
Chrissie

might be bettter getting a DLNA server program like Serviio, plex or kodi and using that to select what media you want to share. it  seems to be a lot easier and more reliable and using windows/windows media player to stream

If you look at that youtube clip I mentioned https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wogYXjbZWZs

Around 3.35 there is a bit where you can check what 'clients' the serviio server can see - is your blu-ray in there? I guess it must be.

There are 'profiles' against the clients - what does it show for your Blu-ray player.

There are various 'profiles' and these dictate what the serviio server does when it starts talking to a client. In some cases certain clients might only be able to cope with a certain filetype/file format. It is possible for serviio to know that the client cant cope with certain files - so it can convert the content on the fly and start streaming something to the client that it can cope with. This requires quite a bit of resource on the server. Have a look atthe profiles against your blu-ray and see what options there are.

Sorry - havent played with serviio for a very long time - someone else may be able to give advice here.

WOO HOOOOOO!!

Thanks so much for all your help Rob, Jase and Spyware for all your help throughout both my recent posts, and Spyware thanks - you held the final key by suggesting I should use VLC instead of WMP.

I did as you said Jase by changing the different categories (video/music/etc) to use VLC (rather than the original WMP I had been using) on the PC to view the video/music files.

Now it works!!

Well, that was a challenge!  I could not have come anywhere near getting this going without you guys  :-)

I'm posting this message both here and on my more recent post because I'd like to be sure everyone who helped out, knows it's all sorted.

Thanks again.

I forgot to say that I also changed the profile for my bluray player in Serviio from 'Generic DLNA Profile' to 'Panasonic BD Player' so this may also have contributed to the resolution.  :-)
