Hi, is anyone else having uptime issues on their static IP with BigPipe?  I am new customer so I don't know if this is normal, but I first noticed it last week so I setup some monitoring

Here is the last week of accessibility on my static IP  Sometimes it is down for 20 or 30 minutes, but I feel even 1 minutes is too much when it is happening this often?  I plan to run a game server on this and obviously that won't be possible unless I can get this to be more reliable.

Static IP's don't drop out at all - you've either got a 'connection' issue or a 'routing' issue - i'm putting money on the former.

Flick an email to bigpipe and get them to take a look at your connection.

FYI my connection almost never drops can go for months without even a router reboot.

Yes, my previous ISP was worldnet and in 5 years it was down maybe 30 minutes so yes, I suspect the former but wanted to make sure it wasn't standard for big pipe, I am read negative comments about their cgnat setyup but I don't actually know what that means, I know Carrier Grade Nat, but knowing the words and understanding are not the same thing :)

I also brought a new router too, so I am waiting to hear from BigPipe, just hope I don't need replace the router but I expect it to be fine.

If you have a static IP, then you are not using CG Nat.

DSL or fibre?
I had this issue - had a perfectly stable connection with 2degrees for years then moved to BigPipe and had frequent disconnections especially when doing online backups or whatever, support were unable to assist. Of course maybe something happened coincidentally to the copper at the same time as I moved to BigPipe but it was odd.

It is fibre, but has been for over 3 years?  so long I can't remember when we switched, so the only change is in the ISP and the new router.

I have a Static IP, and am on Bigpipe UFB.

I do not get disconnects as such, but do get periods where my devices say they are connected, but nothing happens.

I actually think it is my Router (netgear D7000). If I restart it, it works fine again, and can be a day, a week, or even a month before I have to reboot it again. I have another Router (TP-Link Archer D7) to try, and when I can be bothered and have some time, I will swap it out and see if it makes a difference.

go back to your previous router to see if the new router is the cause?

It was a crrappy one and apparently worldnet owned it, I thought it was free with the account but...  So I had to send it back.

Have you checked the new router is running the latest firmware?

Yes, one of the first things I did.  It is of course possible it is the router.  It is unlikely but any device can be faulty.  I am waiting on the ISP to see what they can see or find out before I try and find a new one.  But as can bee seen it was fine for 48 hours, down for 2 mins then ok for another 70 hours.  The absolute crap since then. But also the guys are digging trenches and laying some more of the big red conduit in the next street over at the moment, but I doubt that is a cause.  I assume fiber is either broken or not broken unlike copper which can have loose connections?

Fibre can be borderline, eg if the fibre is bent too much, and that can cause dropouts. But this is rarer than on copper lines.

What kind of router is it? I'm going on to my 4th month now without any issues :)

You could ask them to move you to a IPoE connection (DHCP instead of PPPoE) to see if this helps.

Hi, It is a Mikrotik RB3011 router.  I posted on the lan and router forum too about it incase anyone knew of settigns that might cause it, but it keeps getting removed for some reason?

What is the difference between pppoe and ipoe?  why would one be more reliable if that is the case?
