Hi,

 

I am planning on installing a number of POE security cameras around the exterior of the house. The house is a new build and I’ve ran multiple runs of CAT6 everywhere and more so around where the tv’s are located.

 

I currently run Blue Iris to capture motion/viewing etc on a media centre pc

 

However with the new home, I would like the video feed to be distributed to all the tellys.

 

I am also looking at upgrading to a QNAP device and either run the cameras off their software or run it on a vm running BI

 

From research I’ve done, there are 2 options:
1) Modulator and tune the tv’s to a specific channel.

 

All the tv locations have rg 6 connections.

 

I presume I will need a modulator with a HDMI input as QNAP as HDMI out and my media centre pc has HDMI/DVI out. Do these HDMI modulators things exist?

2) HDMI Multiplexer a couple in and need 3-5x out

 

Anything with more than 2 out gets into an expensive exercise!

 

I will also need to run Cat 6 HDMI baluns to distribute signal. How well do these multiplexers perform esp when you’re using baluns?

 

There is also a third option I’ve spotted a few days ago where there is HDMI Wireless device that can take feed from you pc/phone. Might be a cheaper alternative!

 

Anybody in the same boat that can share some thoughts/experience on how to go about this?
