Good luck with the first clean. Couple of minor things. Pick up rugs with tassels and clear wires in path. Then let her/him rip!

Has anyone had much experience with using magnetic strips to exclude areas? So far the unit has managed to get under the bed twice and been unable to get out. It's a slat bed so it's got plenty of headroom to move around once it's slipped under. Will it register the magnetic strip if I put it on the underside of the bed, or do I need to put it on the carpet and have it drive up to it?

Lastly, where can I get cheap magnetic strip from? Best I found was this seller on ebay.

Just use a long piece of wood or a taught wire and it'll think it's a wall?

Do let us know how to teach the wire, thoughsmile

Surprised it couldn't get out from under the bed, gbwelly. Perhaps the bedding goes down to the floor??

So was I. It wasn't the bedding blocking it.

It was more a case of how the hell did it get in there, rather than surprise it couldn't get out, given the tight squeeze required to extract it.

I am going to have to watch it closely to identify what is going on.

On sale at Kogan.com for NZ Delivery at $389 +  $9 delivery (to Auckland at least), which will just squeeze under the $400 GST limit presumably?

Ordered mine on the 8th May, from the DSE website, assuming the same company, just different branding, still not shipped, have made contact with them and they came back quickly saying they were checking with warehouse. it did say 1-2 weeks to be fair, just wasn't expecting this long.

Don't panic and be patient. This is why it is cheap - they source it from overseas and use cheap couriers.

It took a month for me I think. Another two months for them to figure out their price guarantee.

What's their price guarantee? Did you get an additional discount?

I purchased it, but a couple of days later got an email with them advertising it at a cheaper price.
Contacted support, and apparently they have a 14 day policy:

https://www.dicksmith.co.nz/dn/price-drop-guarantee/

Took a long time, and even had to follow up on the voucher they said they would email. But I ended up getting it.

I ordered on the 7th and still hasn't shipped.  DSE said "Unfortunately, due to some delays out of our hands, your Xiaomi Mi Robot Vacuum Cleaner will be arriving later than expected."

A heads up for anyone with the 2nd gen unit, it looks like Roborock/Xiaomi have made some changes to the app/server which stops it from working on the China Mainland server. You can add the unit to the Mi Home app, however when you try to open the vacuum UI it throws an error saying 'In order to protect your privacy, rights and interests, please select your country or region' with a single button labelled 'Got it'. When you hit the button the vacuum UI disappears, and the unit is removed from the Mi Home app.

It looks like the only way around this is to change to a different server - Singapore seems to work fine. The annoying thing about this though is that I've also got some other Xiaomi smart home kit, and that only works properly on the China Mainland server... So I can either have a smart home or clean floors :D.

I wonder if this is GDPR related - this started happening on 24 May which is when the GDPR stuff came into effect.

Not sure if this also affects the first gen unit - the Xiaomi forums have lit up with reports of this but only in reference to the 2nd gen unit.
