Have had a Xiaomi gateway running fine for about 6 months, then on Monday evening it went offline.

I have tried several things to try and get it back online, but every time when doing the set up via the MiHome app (on IOS) I can connect to it's temporary SSID but it doesn't seem to be able to join my home wireless. My Unifi logs don't show it connecting. Both IOS and Xiaomi are running latest software versions.

Before I classify it as bricked and order another, anyone got any tips that may help with bringing it back to life thanks?

I managed to spend some more time on this last night. I realised that I hadn't tried setting up the Gateways on my old iPhone 5 running IOS 10 and an older version of the MiHome app.

And guess what, it worked!! First time yell

Once the gateway was on my network I tried using my iPhone 8 running IOS 11 and it would work for a minute or so and then the app would say it can't communicate with the gateway. Force closing the app wouldn't help and I would need to restart my phone to get to work again, but again for only a minute or so. I couldn't set up any automations on the iPhone 8, saying it couldn't save it, but had no problem doing it on the iPhone 5.

So it really looks like the issue is with either newer versions of the MiHome app on IOS or the MiHome app on IOS 11.

If I can be bothered I will think about emailing Xiaomi support to see what they have to say, but I get the feeling that I will most likely be wasting my time.

Guess it is good motivation to move the automations to Home Assistant, though I guess I will still need to use the MiHome app to add devices to the Xiaomi gateway.
