I bought a Sonos One with Alexa and have a bunch of existing smarthome products that I’ve started adding to Alexa and learning how it works, but I’ve struck a problem.

In my family room I have two Philips Hue bulbs and a heat pump controlled via an Ambi Climate. When I tell Alexa “Alexa, turn off the Family room lights” the lights stay on and the heat pump goes off.

When I look in the Alexa app, both the heat pump and the lights are called “family room”, but even with that setup it doesn’t explain why it should favour the ambi-climate-controlled heat pump (which it sees as a thermostat) over the Philips Hue when I’ve specifically said to turn off the lights.

Even If I rename the heat pump “family room heat pump” it doesn’t help the situation.

Does anyone else have an Alexa setup with lights and a heat pump in the same room, and if so how do you deal with this?

Cheers

Just as an update to close this out - I solved this by naming the devices with the word "heatpump" at the end of them in the Sensibo app, and then discovering devices again in Alexa. Now, Alexa responds to instructions as you'd expect.
