Hi All,

I recently purchased the Ring Floodlight, with a view to replacing an existing old security sensor light mounted to the soffit of my roof.

I enlisted the help of an electrician, who could not find the IP waterproof rating on the unit, and therefore recommended against installing it - which is advice I took.

If it were to be mounted, it would be using the rubber seal, which has a gap to allow water to escape (the 'Down' area on it) does this match up with his advice?

It looks like the only option I have is now selling the unit on trademe, as is unused...

I'll post an image of the light it was to replace shortly.

Looks like its meant to go over a round US junction box from those pics, not screw onto a flat surface.

Is there anything else provided with a locally bought one? Like the $10 sensor lights come with another piece of plastic that it screws to.

I was just reading the manual and FAQ out of interest. The junction box is only required in the US to comply with electrical regulations (the installation manual mentions this).

The FAQ makes it clear installing it how the OP wants is not supported - the unit is only designed to be wall mounted.

Can I install Floodlight Cam upside-down or horizontally?

No. Floodlight Cam is designed for wall-mounted installation only.
