ajobbins: Well, I'm very disappointed that the phone is supposed to launch this Friday, and Vodafone are still yet to announce availability and pricing details. Their email of the 16th said that they would have more info on pricing and availability last week, and still nothing yet.

At least you're not waiting for the white one :-(

It feels like Apple has been very disorganised this time round. Not being able to order from Apple, no pricing...

It was the exact same case with the iPad. They still don't have the iPad available for order on the apple website

Thinking that I might actually be better off at MagnumMac instead of the Vodafone store, pretty sure that they will have them. Going to give them a ring tomorrow to see if I can get any info out of them once the official pricing has been released.

Appears that I will need to bring my 021 phone to prove that I have a vodafone sim, despite the fact I am itending on putting it onto XT. On the subject of which, my local store does not yet have any micro sims and said that they were unlikely to until next week, but were nice enough to give me a couple of dead sims to practice with, and said that they will happily switch my number across to a new sim if I mess it up. Even if they do have microsims I might still have a crack at cutting it myself, I have nothing to lose, it's going to cost $30 for a new one anyway.

I'm going to likely try the sim cutting routine too.. What's the story with prepay and a microsim? Can they move my current prepay number across to a new micro sim?

I'm guessing the answer is no and they only do this for on account?

Stink - do we REALLY need to bring a VF sim in? I've bought a couple of 2D sims to practice the chop on. I really thought it'd be in TC's best interests to suppy free micro sims on presentation of your old sim and new iphone4 =D

For Vodafone or Telecom? I don't know about Vodafone, but they said that there is not a problem for Telecom, it is just the $30 fee for the new sim, then they will transfer the number. It will just take a couple of hours to activate the new sim.

Pretty sure prepaid is ONLY available from Vodafone online store - if it's anything like the 3GS.  If you're going to take that approach, may as well buy from apple.co.nz instead, as they undercut Vodafone a tad.

Damn :/ How about MagnumMac?

MagnumMac also requires evidence of a Vodafone account I believe, though you'd have to check with someone from their or VF to make absolutely sure.

There's a pdf template you can download, plot 1:1 and trim using a craft knife available here:

http://community.giffgaff.com/t5/Contribute-Innovation-Promotion/giffgaff-Microsim-Cutting-Template/m-p/27024

looks nice and simple, just line your knife up with the red lines and cut.

PM me your email if you can't be stuffed jumping thru the rapidshare hoops and i'll send it to you.

It will be annouced today or tomorrow as the iPad was. Apple wouldn't want to lose iPad sales by announcing the iPhone 4 just yet. Who knows why they didnt annoce them both earlier but oh well

I hope so, mainly I just want to see what is included with the $699 plan (I am hoping for increased data - one can dream right?).

If I cant get it in store or can't be bothered waiting, does Vodafone offer saturday shipping for the south island or is that just a waste as it wont arrive here in time? (Anyone with experience from the 3GS release)
