Screw all of them. I'm going to get the 32GB from Hong Kong for about NZ$1k and put it on 2degrees.

MikeyPI:
UrbanGrafix: What other info can Apple release? They confirmed the release date, they confirmed the price, they confirmed the retailers (vodafone decides who else sells them I believe) - i.e. their retailers first mobile etc

Regardless apple has like nothing left to release

Whatever pal, everyone dances to Apple's tune, RRP, date, release schedules, profit share...

Umm sorry, but learn to read. i.e. above

If Telecom do have access to the product all they'd really have to do is advertise it...

Yes we'll have the iphone on release day, details to follow.....

It wouldn't matter if they told folk a week ago or in 40 minutes, simply by saying you have an option with us is a marketing coup over VF, and will kill some sales through that channel.

But then maybe Telecom haven't got all the apple approved marketing tools and training at their stores.

Apple in New Zealand is THE SAME PEOPLE as Apple in Australia. The idea that those same people have let Vodafone AU, Optus, 3, Telstra etc release pricing and plans but have told Vodafone that they can't release their's is nonsensical.

And thanks Jared W - will just have to keep it out of my son's reach for a few weeks!

Right. So Apple have some huge plan to launch the iphone4 in secrecy with Vodafone but only in NZ as it's such an important market to them.

That'd explain why Vodafone Australia released their plans the other day - coinciding with Apple's press release. Right?

Problems here for VF are numerous, irrespective of whether you're an Apple fan or not.

1) don't offer people a pre-registration service specifically setup to give people information if there's a likelihood you won't be giving them any.

2) If you can delete obscene threads (of which there were a couple apparently), don't lock threads in your own forums where people are otherwise generally expressing frustration over #1.

3) and for goodness sake, don't decree people cannot discuss the situation and continue to lock threads that bring up the subject.

Community management is a skill. So is PR. They screwed the pooch on both.

I repeat, this is not an Apple\iPhone problem.

Actually the way VF shut down debate on their forum sites in the last hour indicates that something will be posted publicly sometime soon.... midday anyone?????

More likely, they were getting their ego's bruised in hearing their customers are not happy. Best way to stop unhappy customers is to stop their talking. right?

I would love to mock Vodafone in the press but that would probably be slander, I hope telecom releases information today (right after when ever vodafone release theirs)

Formerly Gym?

Are you saying you are no longer Gym on the VF forums, or that you are now in fact, both Gym there and JimmyC here?

Confused much?

Hehe... I was trying to come up with an acronym ala Prince and TAFKAP but ran out of time ;-)

Formerly Gym as a way of introducing myself to those I recognise here from the VF forums, including yourself Dan. I'm not frequenting forums where rational criticism results in locked threads. No point in having a public discussion forum at all in that case...
