sdavisnz: my prediction,

apple watch sport 349usd
apple watch 499usd
apple watch edition 999usd

You realise that the edition is 18 carat gold right? Just the gold itself will have a cost of around 1000-2000 USD.

As for the sport vs watch: Really doubt they will be that close in price. I think John Grubers guesstimate of around $1000 USD is probably not way off. The only thing we know for certain is that the cheapest model will be $349 USD.

Looked at the release. There is nothing that would make me want to buy one. The new MacBook is a different story though.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

For well over $1000 for on of the Apple Watch versions I think I will be waiting for second generation at least.

I just can't justify that over the free solar powered watch I was given as a corporate gift years ago. It holds the time well and doesn't need charging :)

For $500 odd I would have but that version has a cheap looking band, non-sapphire (may scratch I don't know time will tell) and to add a nicer band would be $300 odd more.

The Apple TV getting cheaper... now that is news! I think I will be getting one very shortly.

Battery life is the killer for me.  Will stay with Fitbit Surge.

It is, but ecveryone wants a more featured ATV, not a US$30 price break, dang

The Verge hands on video:-

http://www.theverge.com/2015/3/9/8173805/apple-watch-hands-on

Looks pretty underwhelming... The Digital Crown looks awkward to use. I'm interested to see what the Samsung Orbis with the rotating bezel is like.

I think that in a year this will be relegated to the "Hobby" category I really don't see it being a big enough success for them, otherwise I think they will refocus it to take on pebble with an eink screen and many of the features pebble has.

18 hours battery and the price will kill it for a lot of people. Apple could do a iPhone 1 and drop the price but I doubt they will do it.
The fact there is real competition will give Apple a run for it's money something that the iPhone 1 never really had at the beginning which allowed them the time to make it better.

Agree.

I do like the idea of a touchscreen... I find my Pebble buttons awkward.

But the price is a major turnoff. And Pebble is open, which I suspect Apple won't be.

Until they can get the battery life to match that of at least the old Casio digital watches the Smart watch is just a pain

Depends on what you want. If you want a watch then yes a dumb watch is what you should go for.

For me I needed a pager. I was sick of pulling out my phone to find that it was just some junk or circular the pebble allows me to filter these without looking at my phone.

I missed out on the first kickstarter but picked up the OG pebble after people started to get there's I then got a Steel which I love, and I have now backed a Pebble Time Steel. Thats how much of a difference it makes to me.

For me once a week charging is fine. Anymore than that and I start to get annoyed with the device.
