But apples own NZ online store trumped all the NZ retailers more than 12 hours earlt, by beginning to sell them online. Or do they have special pricing or deals if you go into the stores at 5pm? It sounds like hte only difference is that you may get it earlier than buying online, but you also may leave the store very diappointed.

I agree with your last sentence. I don't think there is any monetary advantage in getting an iPad in store, you just get it earlier... or not at all!

Hubby offered to pay halfsies on one for my birthday but I'm trying to decide if I should take the money and wait for an iphone 5 instead. I do use my ipad daily and I'm sure the hubby would love my current one but I use my phone even more. Hmmm.

Maybe this has been already talked about, but why does the 3G radio cost $200, when in the US it costs $30.

It's the same 3G Radio.

I did go into my local DSE, just incase I could get one. There were about 10 peoplein line, and although I could have got a 32GB wifi one I declined, as I wanted the 64GB 3G one.  Apparently there were only 400 avaliable in the country from what I was told. Not sure if that was just throughout DSE stores.

If you now buy online the wait times looks to have gone up to 3-4 weeks, up from teh 2-3 weeks when I ordered mine. At least I will get my ipad cover ina few days as it has shipped.

Was it black or white?

They have 12 different variations, so you are unlikely to get the model you want it you buy at the launch 'party'

I see some people who purchased today have put them on trademe at highly inflated prices. All appear to be in chch which is strange.
