rawsoncj: Vodafone's "NDA" response is pretty comical. I have a strong feeling that "NDA" really means "Telecom caught us flat-out with those much lower handset subsidies, aaaahhhh what do we do?"

It would certainly seem that way. I'm constantly amazed by Vodafone NZ's method of business, they seem to very much trade on being a global brand but without the ability to realise they need to compete in a market as they aren't the only provider out there and as of this week not the only supported provider with the iPhone anymore either.

To watch the piece on One News that was such great advertising for Telecom selling the iPhone, and all Vodafone have to say is they don't have any details yet, three days before release, when the iPhone is already available for preorder just amazes me!

Maybe Vodafone aren't actually getting the iPhone 4S and will just be selling old stock of 3GS and 4 and that's why they have nothing to say!?

Teeps: Why are Vodafone claiming to be under NDA? I can understand why they couldn't say when the iPhone 4S was going to be released before Apple said so, but now the date has been released, Apple has started their own preorders last week and Telecom start theirs today, why would Vodafone be under any form of confidentiality agreement to Apple as there's no secrets!?

I doubt its VFNZ under Apple's NDA, it would be a lot more understandable that John and the other PR related employers can't say anything before plans and pricing are officially launched by VFNZ marketing team

I'm sure you are right. It must be very frustrating for these guys to do all the good work they do on these forums and other places but have their hands tied and can't say anything.

Sounds accurate to me Tongue Out

Sorry guys, can't necessarily agree on that. I have an email from JohnR from yesterday (i.e. the day before Telecom made their announcement) saying that same statement. From that I can only assume that that is not the case (Telecoms plans announcements).

I was joking...I don't know anything about plans Vodafone may or may not have.

It's kinda worse really if they really have so little regard for their customers that they think they can leave it until the last minute to make any form of announcement. For customers that remember how they dealt with it last year it just starts to ring alarm bells of another fiasco!

Yeah, wasn't going to cut it for me. I brought mine from Telecom earlier today, as I mentioned earlier in the thread. Vodafone either want the money or they don't..... Too late now.

Good you've got your order placed. Now for the race to see who gets it first ;-)

I'm getting kinda excited. Here is my question to you all, the email says I and quote: "We are now processing this order and we will contact you by email once your order has been confirmed and dispatched. You can expect delivery between 3 to 5 days.". Does this mean that, like in other countries, they will send them out prior to launch day in order to get it to you on the day or is it just a generic part of the email?

Tuesday = 8th
Wednesday = 9th
Thursday = 10th
Friday = 11th (launch day, aka. 3 days from the email)
Saturday = 12th (don't think couriers ship in the weekend, except for an extra fee)
Sunday = 13th (aka. 5 days from the email)
Monday = 14th (this is when it should arrive?)

I should note that to this date I don't believe the order has been shipped.

Don't want to be Mr Doom and Gloom but it may just be a generic email as on the Telecom web page it says "Estimated shipping time for the iPhone will be 3 to 5 days from November 11." Hopefully they will dispatch before 11th though and you may see it later this week. I was hopeing Apple would be doing the same too but the order I placed last Friday still says processing and they haven't taken money out of my account yet.

In my experience, when a company quotes something like 3-5 days they mean working days (ie. 5 days is really 7 as they don't count weekends) so if I were you I wouldn't expect to see your 4S before Wednesday next week (3 working days from the 11th) and could even be Friday. Anything sooner than this would be a bonus. In reality though even if they ship on Friday I think you could have delivery on Monday :-)

"Estimated shipping time for the iPhone will be 3 to 5 days from November 11. Online pre-orders will take priority"

I think most people who pre-ordered today should have it by next Friday.

Did I read that the 64Gb had a longer despatch time? If so, that may well mean that the midnight or 9am on Friday may be fruitless?

Yes, Telecom state 2-3 weeks for the 64GB online so there's every chance that they don't have any yet so may not be any in the shops on Friday

Actually it states at the start of the order that it is 3 - 5 days from the 11th when stock is able to be shipped. So it will be a little later than Monday as stock can't ship until the products are officially launched.
